Job Description

ElecJet in San Jose, CA is seeking a skilled and innovative Battery Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of cutting-edge battery technologies, focusing on cell performance, safety, and integration with ultrasound measurement systems. This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to develop, test, and enhance battery solutions that align with ElecJet's product roadmap and technical innovation strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct cell performance and feasibility testing, evaluating characteristics such as cell capacity, cycle life, failure modes, rate capabilities, internal resistance, and safety.
  • Conduct trade studies to understand experiment design trade-offs and make performance estimates to set design expectations.
  • Lead cell cycling and electrochemical testing, incorporating ultrasound measurements, and developing appropriate safety protocols for battery handling.
  • Oversee the construction and design of battery cell/ultrasound test systems, guiding technical scope from product inception to commercial launch, including Voice of Customer (VOC) and user experience.
  • Perform data analysis for quantitative evaluation of cell performance in relation to ultrasound signal quality, and compare various ultrasound transducers and systems.
  • Keep abreast of advancements in battery technologies and their implications for ultrasound sensing.
  • Identify and initiate projects focused on battery technical innovation and battery technology risk management.

Education/Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of lithium-ion battery chemistries, pouch and prismatic cell construction, manufacturing techniques, and testing procedures.
  • Proficiency in signal processing, with ideal experience in acoustic wave propagation through layered media, and familiarity with laboratory equipment and measurements.
  • Broad understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering in combined HW/SW systems.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB, Python, or similar scripting languages.
  • MS in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) with 2+ years of relevant work experience or a Ph.D.

Salary: $70,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
