About the Role

You will be responsible for supervising and supporting a team of Infant and Toddler educators, ensuring the implementation of a high-quality curriculum, maintaining classroom compliance, and supporting the professional growth of the teaching staff. You will play a critical role in running the Arkansas Better Chance (ABC) program, ensuring compliance with ABC guidelines, and managing reporting and tracking for the ABC grant. You will contribute to program evaluation and improvement, staying up-to-date with best practices in early childhood education. You will work with the staff of the Housing Team, Career Center, Case Managers, and Mental Health Team on shared goals related to parenting skills and parenting education. 

 

What You’ll Do

  • Provide direct supervision and guidance to all PreK Lead Teachers within the program
  • Conduct regular check-ins, observations, and evaluations to ensure teachers are meeting performance expectations and following program policies and procedures
  • Support professional development and growth opportunities for Infant and Toddler Lead Teachers, including providing constructive feedback, recommending training, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment by promoting effective communication, resolving conflicts, and promoting a shared vision for high-quality infant/toddler care and education
  • Ensure the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of infants/toddlers, including individualized care and learning experiences for each child
  • Monitor the implementation of the curriculum across classrooms, providing guidance and support to ensure consistency and quality
  • Ensure that all Infant and Toddler classrooms meet licensing, accreditation, and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct regular observations of classrooms to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, proper supervision, and appropriate child-staff ratios
  • Review documentation and records related to infant/toddler care, health, and developmental milestones to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Collaborate with the HR department to assist in recruitment, hiring, and onboarding
  • Facilitate team meetings, workshops, or training sessions to promote collaboration, share best practices, and disseminate important information
  • Collaborate with other program coordinators and administrators to ensure smooth transitions, consistency in program practices, and effective communication across different age groups and program areas
  • Communicate regularly with parents and families to provide updates on curriculum, program initiatives, and child progress
  • Collect and analyze data related to program outcomes, teacher performance, and child development indicators to assess program effectiveness.
  • Participate in program evaluation processes and use findings to identify areas for improvement, develop action plans, and implement changes as needed
  • Stay informed about current research and best practices in early childhood education, incorporating new knowledge into program enhancements
  • Ensure that classrooms are in compliance with AmeriCorps requirements at all times 
  • Complete a minimum of 30 clock hours of specific required professional development between July 1 and June 30 each year. 
  • Conduct other duties as assigned to fulfill Our House’s mission

 

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 3 years of experience working with young children 
  • At least 1 year experience supervising a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse staff, parents, and community members 
  • Experience with conflict resolution and/or crisis management 
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to curriculum planning 
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-direction
  • Team building, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills 
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills 
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality 
  • Must be able to lift 30lbs

 

Requirements

  • COVID-19 vaccination required or must meet the legal guidelines for an exemption
  • Must be able to pass criminal background checks, child and adult maltreatment registry checks, sex offender registry checks, and a pre-employment drug screen
