Job Description

The Lead Camp Educator implements interdisciplinary camp curricula for children aged 4-14. This position is responsible for leadership, classroom management, and maintaining a fun, educational environment for designated Summer Camp sessions. Ideal candidates will have deep commitment to and passion for research-backed teaching practice, love, and respect for young children and their enormous capabilities, and interest in serving in an evolving camp community.

The pay rate for this position is $20.16/hour. This is a seasonal, non-exempt position and is not eligible for BADM benefits. Applicants may apply for both Spring and Summer camp roles if available. 

 

  • Summer Camp sessions begin on Monday, June 20, 2022, and wrap up on Friday, August 12, 2022, with mandatory training during the week of June 13, 2022. 

  

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  1. Ensures the care, safety, and direct supervision of campers at all times during the camp day.  

  1. Follows and ensures campers follow best COVID safety practices including mask wearing, social distancing, and cleanliness.   

  1. Leads daily camp activities including teaching camp lessons, leading games and engaging campers.   

  1. Maintains a fun, positive, and friendly demeanor.  

  1. Manages camp group’s drop-off, pick-up, and caregiver communication process daily.   

  1. Serves as an appropriate and positive role model for all campers, caregivers, and the public.   

  1. Works cooperatively to maintain open lines of communication with caregivers, constituents, supervisors, and co-workers.   

  1. Maintains for BADM supplies, equipment, and facilities   

 

Additional duties as assigned.   

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS  


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is a plus.    

  • Demonstrated teaching skills with children 4 -14 years old. Experience working in an informal education, summer camp, or early childhood education setting.    

  • Classroom management experience.  

  • Experience facilitating open-ended learning activities for young children.   

  • Superior customer service experience   

  • Ability to work flexibly within a team and to take direction.   

  • Ability to take initiative and to work independently.
