JOB DUTIES:

Mission Pharmacal Company, is seeking an QUALITY CONTROL SCIENTIST I - PRODUCTS to join our team at our manufacturing facility in Boerne, TX. The QC Scientist I - Products will perform chemical and physical tests required for quality control provided testing and evaluation of results on products and processes. Schedule: Monday-Wednesday: 7:00am-5:30pm; Thursday: 7:00am-5:00pm.

1. Analyzes samples using the methods in the laboratory, performs calculations and data analysis, and provides appropriate and compliant documentation for review and release of products.

2. Continue training on analytical methods to achieve proficiency in testing any and all products for commercial release and stability programs.

3. Assists in the basic operations of the laboratory in support of the essential analytical testing.

4. Basic trouble shooting for instruments and methods to meet sample testing requirements.

Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor of Science degree from a four-year college or university in a scientific field combined with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in Quality Control laboratory. Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.

Additional requirements:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical instructions including methods of analysis documents, SOPs and certificate of analysis.
  • Ability to provide documentation, data and results in the appropriate format as trained.
  • Ability to proficiently communicate to management on the tasks undertaken and completed.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts routinely used in the data analysis of test results, including concepts such as percentages, averages, standard deviations and basic statistics.
  • Ability to follow mathematical formulas with variables and standard mathematical operations in the calculation of results in the testing methods.
  • Ability to create spreadsheets for analytical data analysis as assigned so that the spreadsheet can be validated and used for testing.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to operate a Windows based computer, use word processing software, and input data into spreadsheets (MS Office Suite).
  • Ability to run chromatography software (Empower and Chromeleon, etc.) from existing methods in the computer used for data collection and analysis.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
