POSITION: Estimator - Solar

Founded in 2014, DWS Energy is a rapidly expanding, multi-disciplinary electrical construction company focused on commercial and utility-scale solar and battery storage (new construction and operations & maintenance), industrial controls wiring, and electrical pre-fabrication services in our UL-508A certified panel shop. The organization has expanded its service offerings throughout its tenure and continues to grow at an accelerated rate.

OVERVIEW:  The Estimator – Solar role will play a crucial role in analyzing site conditions, assessing energy needs, and providing accurate estimates for the installation of solar energy systems, battery storage systems, and control systems This position requires a combination of technical knowledge, mathematical proficiency, and strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, sales teams, and project managers.

DUTIES:  The duties and responsibilities of the Estimator may include but is not limited to:

•  Analyze and interpret detailed drawings and specifications.
• Generate accurate cost estimates for solar energy system installations, considering factors such as equipment costs, labor expenses, permitting fees, and potential incentives or rebates.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of potential commercial solar energy installation sites, including roof condition, shading analysis, and available space for solar panel placement.
•  Utilize software tools and models to analyze historical energy usage data, evaluate current energy needs, and forecast energy production potential from solar installations.
•  Collaborate with design teams to develop customized solar energy system layouts tailored to meet the specific requirements and constraints of each project.
• Prepare detailed scopes of work, system specifications, cost breakdowns, and projected energy savings for presentation to clients.
• Provide technical support to sales teams and clients, addressing inquiries related to system design, performance projections, financial analysis, and regulatory requirements.
• Attend job site walk-throughs and pre-bid meetings and collaborate with clients and design professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS:  The following are requested skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar.
•   A minimum of 4-7years of design/build electrical/solar estimating experience on commercial projects ranging up to $50M.
•  Proven experience as estimator or similar position.
• Knowledge of financial and project management principles.
• Extensive experience with Excel, Word and one of the major computerized estimating programs (e.g., Accubid, Pro Core, LiveCount, ConEst, McCormick, etc.)
• Exquisite math and software usage ability with an analytical mindset.
• Knowledgeable of the N.E.C and local codes.
• Knowledge and proficiency with Code requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:  The following are physical requirements:

• Travel at times is required.
• Must be able to do prolonged periods of sitting at desks, stooping, kneeling, bending.
• Occasional exposure to outside weather on job sites.
• Ability to walk job sites for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to occasionally lift at least 35 lbs. solo and 50 lbs. in tandem lifts.
