Senior-Level Network Engineer

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

1. Network Architecture and Design:

   • Lead the design and architecture of complex network solutions, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks, to meet business requirements and performance objectives.
   • Develop network design documentation, including high-level and low-level designs, diagrams, and implementation plans.

2. Network Implementation and Optimization:

   • Oversee the implementation and deployment of network solutions, ensuring adherence to design specifications, industry best practices, and security standards.
   • Optimize network performance, reliability, and scalability through proactive monitoring, analysis, and tuning.

3. Network Security and Compliance:

   • Develop and implement network security policies, procedures, and controls to protect against security threats, vulnerabilities, and cyber attacks.
   • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to network security and data privacy.

4. Troubleshooting and Resolution:

   • Provide expert-level support for escalated network-related issues and outages, diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems in a timely manner.
   • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of network issues.

5. Capacity Planning and Performance Management:

   • Perform capacity planning and forecasting to ensure adequate network resources and bandwidth to support current and future business needs.
   • Monitor and analyze network performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for optimization and improvement.

6. Vendor Management and Collaboration:

   • Manage relationships with network equipment vendors and service providers, evaluating products and services, negotiating contracts, and ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, security analysts, and application developers, to support IT initiatives and projects.

7. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

   • Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
   • Share knowledge and expertise with team members through training sessions, documentation updates, and collaboration.

Qualifications:

1. Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Advanced certifications such as Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or equivalent are preferred.

2. Experience: 6-10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering roles, with a proven track record of designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level network infrastructures.

3. Technical Skills:

   • Expert-level knowledge of networking concepts and technologies, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and wireless networking.
   • Extensive experience with network hardware and software, including Cisco routers and switches, Palo Alto firewalls, and Aruba wireless controllers.
   • Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, and Cisco Prime.

4. Communication and Leadership:

   • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
   • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with experience leading and coaching junior team members.

5. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

   • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve complex network issues and performance bottlenecks.
   • Ability to analyze network traffic patterns, identify root causes, and develop and implement effective solutions.
