Note that this position is located at our Newport Beach, California office. We have a hybrid schedule where all staff are expected to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and have the option to work from home or in-office Mondays & Fridays.

Accountant at Canterbury Consulting
When you join Canterbury as an Accountant, you will have a direct impact on the investment success of foundations, endowments, and families through your work in the Finance Department.
The successful Accountant has the following characteristics:
An extremely high level of attention to detail and quality of work
The ability to balance competing priorities, and meet deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Completion of a four-year Accounting degree
Strong Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and data connections
A strong work ethic
Minimum two years of experience as an Accountant in a corporate environment
The primary responsibilities of the Accountant are:
Responsible for all Accounts Payable functions from invoice receipt to payment issuance
Responsible for all Accounts Receivable functions from invoicing to payment receipt, including maintenance of client data
Maintain the general ledger
Reconcile bank accounts
Responsible for monthly closing of the company and subsidiaries including but not limited to balance sheet account reconciliation
Prepare monthly financial statements and issue in a timely manner
Compute taxes and prepare various local tax returns
Assist with annual audit, tax returns, and other year-end functions
Payroll accounting, including reconciling payroll journal entries
Review and process monthly travel expense reports
Assist with ad hoc projects as needed
Complete foreign currency transactions and translations
Position reports to Controller
