Job Summary:

As a Freight Laborer, you will be responsible for the physical handling, loading, unloading, and movement of freight within the warehouse. You will use lifting machinery to move goods, such as forklifts, order pickers, electric power jacks, and hand pallet jacks. This role is crucial in maintaining the flow of goods and meeting customer demands effectively.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Loading and unloading freight from trucks, containers, and transportation vehicles.
Safely operating material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
Sorting, stacking, and organizing freight in designated storage areas.
Conducting physical inventory counts and reconciling discrepancies.
Inspecting freight for damage, verifying quantities, and ensuring proper documentation.
Following established safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
Assisting with packaging and labeling freight for shipment.
Collaborating with team members and departments to maintain workflow efficiency.
Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work environment.
Adhering to company policies and regulations related to freight handling and safety.
Communicating effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and leads to coordinate tasks and resolve issues.
Participating in training programs to enhance job skills and knowledge.

Required Skills/Abilities:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferably prior experience in a warehouse or freight handling role.
Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
Familiarity with material handling equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks.
Attention to detail and accuracy in task performance.
Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking.
Commitment to safety practices and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Capability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
Proficiency in operating material handling equipment safely.
Stamina and endurance to perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment.
