Job Description

Peak Performers is a nonprofit recruiting firm specializing in contract roles for Texas public sector clients. We've partnered with the Texas Health and Human Service Commission (HHSC) to recruit for a Public Health IT Business Analyst in Austin, TX.


Project Details

As the Public Health IT Business Analyst you will be replacing the existing Pharmacy Branch-Inventory Tracking Electronic Asset Management System (ITEAMS) with an automated solution that is Food and Drug Administration (FDA) compliant and able to integrate with outside systems to trace and track the distribution of Department of State Health Services (DSHS) pharmaceuticals.


You will:

· Evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and develop and implement solutions.

· Study product samples and discuss with Design & Development.

· Lead ongoing reviews of business processes and develop optimization strategies.

· Design and develop supporting documentation for products (e.g., user manuals).

· Stay up-to-date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems.

· Understand and translate complex information for users of varying backgrounds, experiences.

· Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings and periodically review all documentation for timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness; make corrections/updates as needed.

· Perform requirements analysis and develop documentation for a variety of media (print, PowerPoint, video, etc.).

· Communicate your insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.

· Gather critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and producing useful reports.

· Work closely with clients, technicians, and managerial staff and manage updates and revisions to technical literature.

· Research, develop and document technical design specifications and test scripts.

· Perform user acceptance testing and serve as a liaison between stakeholders and users.

· Write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.


You have 7 years of experience:

· In written and oral communications and communicating with customers to obtain business requirements, documenting those requirements, and tracking and documenting the specifications associated with those requirements.

· In the field of public health as a senior Business Analyst.

· With standard concepts, practices, and procedures within public health organization or a related HIV private sector medical institution.

· Following test scripts to participate in User Acceptance Testing.


You may also have:

· Five years of experience reporting to executive management.

· One year of experience understanding Electronic Information Resources (EIR) accessibility and security requirements.

· One year of experience managing projects using commercial applications serving as health registries.


Term: August 1, 2020 through August 31, 2020 – potential extension

Compensation: $52.00/hr (W2)

Work Location: 1100 West 49th Street, Austin, Texas 78756

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM
