Job Description

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for scheduling and prioritizing all work performed in the assigned area of responsibility; providing quotes for jobs and work order reviews for customer billing; customer communications; shop safety practices and compliance with shop operating policies. This position has major responsibilities to ensure both internal and external customer satisfaction.

Education and Experience:

  • High school or equivalent diploma, or trade school diploma preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of Heavy Equipment machining service/supervisory experience required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and development; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Functions:

  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Establishes and mutually agrees upon and communicates job expectations (i.e., accurate price quotes and time estimates) to internal and external customers to ensure customer satisfaction according to our mission and core business values
  • Establishes, models, and reinforces safety practices that are consistent with our mission to ensure employee and customer safety
  • Models collaborative problem-solving and personal influencing skills to ensure that service activities in the incumbent's area of responsibility are aligned with the overall business plan of the service department and company
  • Provides Service Manager with status reports on all open work orders in an accurate and timely manner
  • Review monthly service operations branch statements to assess progress on department business goals
  • Participates in the selection, development, and evaluation of service department personnel to ensure a high level of commitment and competence is available in our human resources
  • Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Manage resources and contingencies and reduce performance deviations/gaps

  • Competency in strategic operational planning methods and practices, the monitoring and measurement of targeted goals, resource allocation, and management practices
  • Ability to direct, implement, motivate, and evaluate work environment to accomplish specific, targeted business objectives
  • Ability to demonstrate specific business/industry job-related professional knowledge, skills, experience, and related performance attributes
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to engage with customers, vendors, own staff, and corporate executives to exchange information, influence, and persuade
  • Time management skills to develop plans for structuring self and others to attain maximum productivity by establishing deadlines, milestones, tasks, resources, and achievement of goals and work results
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to apply logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, approaches, and prevention of problems
  • Knowledge of construction equipment, machines, and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Computer knowledge and/or experience including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
