Job Description
Salary:

Work within a fast paced Graphic Arts Department while accomplishing the duties as an Illustrator. Report to the Visual Information Project Manager on work load data, status reports, and numerous tracking spreadsheets measuring quality and safety initiatives. Duties includes, providing instructions in accordance with professional industry and military standards on the development and preparation of graphic design, web design, graphic imagery, and presentations, using design elements to produce a visual product. Provide instruction and guidance on the use of available equipment, producing graphic and presentation products, and provide graphics supplies in a self-help environment.


Produce and/or design visual presentations and printed material such as charts, graphs, maps, posters, flyers and signs, where the general format and specific theme to be illustrated are already determined by the client. 


Operate printers, scanners, copiers, lamination and vinyl sign machine.  Designs and provides advice and guidance on design matters, including size, layout, color, paper, typography, specific visual elements and reproduction methods.


Plans the layout, taking into consideration size of finished product, medium to be used and purpose of the product.  Judges reproducibility of material, enlargement or reduction limitations, and appropriate typographical elements for best visual effects. Works from sketches, client suggestions, ideas and previously produced products.   Produces material using computer graphics programs.

Transfer graphics art in various forms of electronic media and maintain local area network (LAN) graphic files with graphic and digital imagery for customer based requirements. Reproduce graphic masters into a wide range of graphic material to include, but not limited to, transparencies, signs, booklets, flyers, newsletters, brochures, certificates, flash cards, overlays, wall graphs, flip charts, maps, and 3-dimensional visuals, as required by the customer. Prepare master art copy for overlays using map symbols, lines, and other symbols and figures to depict military situations.  Ensure that all digital files are maintained in an organized and accessible manner on the server. Maintain a file of all unclassified graphic art masters. Conduct an analysis and diagnosis of graphic equipment problems.  MUST thoroughly know Adobe Creative Suite.


Provide graphic art from rough draft, verbal instructions and/or diagrams. Develop graphic computer art and presentations in a wide range of computer programs and file formats to meet customer requirements. Design to customer requirements and requested format, multimedia presentation for a wide array of digital imagery presentations. Maintain the integrity of all digital imagery, formats include but not limited to: JPEG, PPT, GIF, TIF, CGM, WMF, CDR, AL, or PSD images. Develop and provide all unit insignia and similar graphic military logos in graphic vector form.  Establishes and maintains electronic files and collections of work.  Other duties as assigned.


Physical Requirements:  Must be able to perform all duties listed above.   Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

 

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Arts or related field required. 


Required Experience/Skills:  Must have technical and creative skills in all aspects of graphics design including concepts. Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Fireworks) and Microsoft Office. Minimum of 5 years’ experience with marketing and/or proposal graphics support. Working knowledge and experience with additional multimedia software.   Experienced in digital photography and photo editing. Applicants will be tested on site in their knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Ability to work independently and function effectively as a member of a team. Excellent time management and organization skills, handling multiple simultaneous projects with stringent deadlines.
