Sr. Network Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for senior-level management and maintenance of the companies' LAN/WAN environment and computer systems. It will include the participation in and oversight of the daily upkeep and administration of the companies' network infrastructure and computer systems. This position will also be responsible for the design, planning, implementation and maintenance of the companies' network infrastructure and architecture. Senior Engineers will be expected to show leadership and mentor other less-experienced engineers.

Essential Functions:

• Maintains and Continuously Improves Delta Dental of Rhode Island’s Technical Infrastructure
• Maintains High Availability of all Critical Data Center Components
• Daily Hands on Management of Key Components and Trusted Advisor to Senior Management on Industry Best Practices
• Participates in rotation for monthly off-hours patch maintenance for infrastructure servers
• Manages Company Resources as efficiently as possible, continuously driving down operational cost
• Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing with other Team Members
• Solid Technical Skills
• Operating System Layer - Microsoft Server-Based OS , Solaris
• Storage – Pure Storage
• Network Layer - Brocade, Cisco (LAN and Wireless), Palo Alto Firewalls
• Security – LDAP, Active Directory, Certificate Servers, SiteMinder
• Application Layer - VMWare VSphere & VDI, SolarWinds, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint, MS IIS
• Effective Communication Skills
• This role must be able to translate technology operational needs into business context. Any issues and risk must be communicated in a timely manner to Senior Management

• The ability to assimilate information and provide dashboard view of critical components to Senior Management. Look for and identify trends, single points of failure and perform root cause analysis to proactively eliminate potential defects.

Requirements:

• Degree in IT, Computer Science, or Engineering and/or recognized industry certification (MCSE, CCNA, CCNP)
• 5-7 Years of Relevant Experience Including;
• Microsoft Operating Systems and User Management
• Experience with Microsoft BackOffice Technologies; IIS, SharePoint, BizTalk
• Working Knowledge of Virtualization Technologies
• Working Knowledge of Cisco Networking Technologies
• Working knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls
• Accomplished organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and leadership skills at all levels
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work with Information Technology issues as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
