The Opportunity – Accounting Manager

In a fast-paced work environment, the primary responsibilities involved in this role will include managing daily cash application, full cycle of accounts payable & accounts receivable processing, handling reconciliations and payment processing. The Accounting Manager will manage an accounting clerk and also be required to assist with various tasks related to general accounting, as well as the month end closing, and quarterly and annual audits.

Responsibilities:

• Process payments received (wires) from customers against open invoices in Quickbooks/SAP
• Perform invoice creations for wholesale customer accounts
• Coordinate, process and pay incoming vendor invoices and expense reports in a timely manner including coding invoices, performing data entry and cheque/EFT processing
• Manage depreciation/amortization schedules
• Distribute incoming invoices as required for approvals
• Handle internal and external vendor invoice/employee expense claim inquiries.
• Setup and maintain vendor account master/ banking details for EFT payment processing.
• Ensure expenditures and approvals are in compliance with company policies and procedures
• Ensure tax compliance including detection and posting of HST
• Perform adjusting journal entries, month end accruals, reporting and analysis as required.
• Process reconciliations for bank statements and sales deposits
• Administrative duties such as: scanning documents into Quickbooks, file and archive documents, maintaining contracts for corporate phones
• Assist with month-end closing activities
• Ad-hoc reporting requests as required by the Finance Manager
• Assist with internal and external audits
• Travel administration (flight-booking approvals)
• Maintain bank deposit books
• Manage corporate credit card payments and reconciliations

Skills & Qualifications:

• Post-secondary degree/diploma in an Accounting, or Business Administration
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience with experience leading team members
• Self starter who can manage own workload without daily supervision
• QuickBooks: min. 2 years experience
• Enrolment in CPA Program in pursuit of CPA Designation preferred but not required
• Excellent computer skills with comprehensive expertise in computerized accounting software.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Ability to take initiative to complete tasks and solve problems
• Analytical skills to include planning, organizing, directing and controlling workflow and processes.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive working relationships
• Ability to work on multiple clients
• Proficiency in Word and Excel
