Job Description

Idaho Asphalt Supply, Inc. is a leading asphalt supplier and marketer in the Inland Northwest and Pacific Northwest Regions.   With plants in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, California, and Arizona, IAS supplies a diverse product line of asphalts, polymer modified asphalts, and asphalt emulsions to the road maintenance and construction industry. We are seeking and experienced Senior Maintenance Manager based out of our Tucson, AZ plant (flexible).

Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Senior Maintenance Manager will lead, direct, and be responsible for all aspects of maintenance of plants sites for Idaho Asphalt and subsidiaries This roll will:

  • Provide high level leadership and oversight of maintenance operations.
  • Assure reliable operation of every facility.
  • Develop plant staff in how to properly maintain their equipment and processes.
  • Appropriately prioritize maintenance and reliability activities.Set overall goals, strategies, and objectives for maintenance and reliability.
  • A lead from the front attitude, willing to do any job that needs to be done.
  • Promote, improve, and assure that we take full advantage of the systems which we use to operate our business.

Position Responsibilities:

The Senior Maintenance Manager will:

  • Identify, develop, prioritize, and implement scalable maintenance improvements that allow autonomous site operation while providing proper oversight.
  • Develop, implement, train, and maintain maintenance procedures.
  • Assure that each plant site utilizes our CMMS as intended.
  • Develop and manage spare parts inventory, driving visibility and commonality across our plants. 
  • Monitor plant performance, marshalling resources when necessary to maintain acceptable plant operation. 
  • Assign and monitor the achievement of annual plant maintenance goals.
  • Drive cultural change focused on root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Provide strong developmental and mentoring support on maintenance related topics. 
  • Key member of the Operations Team participating in the leadership and decision making for overall operations of IAS and its subsidiaries.
  • Business travel to all sites is required.  Travel may be 30-50% and the scheduling of it is flexible and on an as needed basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • BS Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Advanced degree or MBA is strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive responsibility in maintenance.  Strong preference to management experience within a chemical manufacturing/processing environment or equivalent. 
  • Hands on mechanical experience.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, & APA is desirable.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong root cause analysis.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems.
  • Working understanding of maintenance management systems and maintenance theory in a large company.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Project management skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and industrial equipment repair knowledge.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and English communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and aptitude
  • Supervisory experience or experience leading a large project.

Preferred Qualifications and Other Skills:

  • Large asphalt plant experience.
  • Electrical aptitude.
  • Prior plant maintenance management experience.
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Formal leadership and management training.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to traverse property and facility to diagnose plant issues and plan repairs or maintenance.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
