Director of Children's Ministries

This is a part-time hourly position; documented 20 hours a week (80 hours a month). Hours will fluctuate with seasonal events. Benefits do not apply to this position.

JOB OVERVIEW:
The Director of Children’s Ministries provides leadership to nurture an authentic faith in God in children (birth – 5th grade) and help them realize God created, loves, and has a purpose for them. Prepare children to live their lives in God’s mission in the world – locally and globally, so that Camp United Methodist Church can more intentionally and faithfully serve as “a caring community that invites and equips people to follow Jesus.”

DUTIES:
· Provides curriculum, recruits, and supports volunteers who serve in the ministries for children, including but not limited to, Sunday School, Children’s Church, Wednesday Camp Kids, and other educational events as needed.

· Create activities for children during worship.

· Coordinates meals for children during Camp Kids on Wednesday nights.

· Provides leadership, vision, planning, and recruiting for volunteers and hourly workers who serve regularly and in events including, but not limited to, Children’s Christmas Events, Easter Events, Vacation Bible School, and other educational events as needed.

· Prepares and leads the message for children’s time during church services and/or coordinates volunteers to do so.

· Plans and implements fun outings for the children.

· Oversees acolyte training and scheduling.

· Oversees and updates the Safe Sanctuary Policy for children birth through 5th grade.

· Plans and implements an annual parent orientation to Camp Children’s Ministries.

· Ensures that all information concerning children’s ministry is publicized to the congregation through various channels including, but not limited to, monthly church email newsletter, worship bulletins, the church website, and the church’s Facebook page.

· Acts as a resource to parents regarding issues related to children and faith such as baptism.

· Maintains up-to-date contact information, medical information, etc. for children and their families.

· Attends periodic staff meetings.

· Welcomes guests with children, birth through 5th grade.

· In concert with the Associate Director of Music, promotes the Children’s Music Ministry.

· Develops and maintains a Children’s Ministry budget with the guidance of the Finance Committee Chairperson.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Clear background check, state and national.

· The ability and desire to work with children and adults.

· A desire to be part of a team ministry.

· Clear oral and written communication skills.

· The ability to recruit and equip volunteers for the Children’s Ministry.

· Strong organizational skills.

· Self- motivated with the ability to perform tasks without detailed instructions.

· Ability to work flexible hours – weekdays and weekends.

· Experience in church-related work either as an employee or a volunteer – preferred.
