Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Supervisor of Receiving and Inventory supervises daily warehouse receiving, inventory activities and RMA (Return Merchandise Authorizations) warehouse activities. The Supervisor directs and manages the daily activities of warehouse associates when working in the receiving and RMA departments. The supervisor partners with the manager regarding performance levels of employees and rewards and disciplines the warehouse associates where appropriate. The Supervisor’s main role is to train, mentor and develop the team while managing the daily responsibilities of these departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans and arranges the unloading and receiving of incoming materials and ensures the team reviews information on packing slips with purchase orders to verify accuracy of shipment.
  • May process return shipments from customers.
  • Directs receiving and inventory activities to ensure performance standards and goals are met. Provides oversight and ensures accuracy.
  • Owns and implements best practices by improving processes.
  • Coordinates incoming material, sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks, and/or logs and verifies inventory counts which is received.
  • Monitors incoming products and warehouse inventory for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies manager and/or purchasing personnel.
  • Responsible for maintaining acceptable and accurate inventory levels including replenishment. Maximizes, consolidates cycle count, and verifies SKU management.
  • Reports, monitors, and investigates inaccuracies, shortages, overages, and all inventory levels.
  • Manages annual inventory.
  • Monitors warehouse machinery (i.e. dolly, pallet jack, cherry picker, and forklift) to ensure warehouse and receiving mission can be accomplished in a safe, effective manner.
  • Assists in providing performance reviews for all warehouse associates.
  • Assumes responsibility for all facility administration in the absence of the Manager and Assistant Manager.
  • Involved with employee development and discipline.
  • Confers with associates to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Determines associates’ work procedures and prepares work schedules to expedite workflow.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Assigns duties and periodically examines work of associates for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures. Trouble-shoots and resolves errors including inventory discrepancies.
  • Assists Manager with Safety Program, monthly safety meeting and walk-throughs. Responsible for ensuring safe warehouse procedures are being followed on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensures associates follow proper receiving procedures.
  • Responsible for managing associate time sheets, schedules, work assignments, overtime, time off, training, and other labor considerations.
  • Directs salvage of damaged or used materials.
  • Interprets company policies to associates.
  • Supervises special projects.
  • Ensures behavior is in line with company management objectives. Shows support for management decisions.
  • Supports Conflict Resolution and ability to support the final company decision.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Obtains dimensions on new product.
  • Help and oversee the RMA/Embellishing area.
  • Assist with interviews of potential new staff.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Five years of warehouse operations experience.
  • Forklift Certification and equipment operator certification, ability to operate machinery.
  • 2 + years of strong supervisory/lead experience in a similar environment.
  • Ability to express oneself in a positive manner and work toward resolution.
  • Problem solving and time management skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office, Excel, and experience with WM or other similar WMS (NAV would be a plus).
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or inventory control standards.
  • Must work well under pressure in a team environment, able to multi-task.
  • Ability to lead and train staff and/or new associates.
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
  • Written communication to include completing forms using a few words or numbers and composing moderately complex documentation of a routine nature.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills including answering questions with a brief response or provide standard information, interviewing for or discuss detailed information (with vendors or other outside customers) regarding business decisions, and deliver informational speeches, reports, and/or orientations before audiences and groups that include internal employees.
  • Work to improve existing systems/ procedures which periodically result in new ideas or approaches of considerable significance.

BUDGET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Responsible for controlling some expenses within a department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct supervision of approximately 10-15 employees primarily involved in clerical, manual or semi-manual activities.
