What You’d Be Doing

As a Senior Structural Designer, you will have the opportunity to creatively solve complex problems, coordinate with team members in other engineering disciplines, and develop approaches to widely varied projects which are multi-disciplinary and vary widely in size.

· Work with a structural engineer or independently to develop the preliminary design concepts from clients into complete, functional systems.

· Work with a structural engineer or independently to develop drawings packages for clients that range in a simple sketch to full, ready to permit drawing packages.

· Set up site specific site plans, partial plans and detailed drawings for concrete foundations and steel buildings and supports.

· Work with vendor drawings to accurately display anchoring and mounting support, i.e pump bases, motor supports and equipment mounting.

· Utilize structural engineering documents including new engineering sketches, existing drawings and blueprints and client drawing specifications.

· Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and electrical staff to develop efficient designs and identify and mitigate interferences between disciplines.

· Coordinate with clients and contractors.

· Travel will comprise approximately 10% of your time for site investigations, design reviews and construction inspection and coordination.

Requirements:

What Makes You a Good Candidate

We are looking for applicants in the Pacific Northwest or somebody willing to relocate here.


· 5+ years of experience including drafting and design on industrial projects.

· Previous experience must demonstrate an ability to start design of basic foundations and steel framing drawings with minimal support from an engineer. You’ll need to show the ability to work with an engineer on what is needed to complete the task without detailed redlines. You’ll need to be able to create drawings through verbal communication, minimal sketches and your working knowledge and experience.

· You will need to know and understand what is needed to create a complete drawing package.

· Knowledge of complex concrete foundations. I.e. Turn-down slabs, spread footings, piers, pits and walls.

· Understand of reinforcing and its use in foundations.

· Knowledge of steel framing connections. i.e. moment connections, double-angle and shear connections.

· Understanding of weld symbols

· Understanding of pre-engineered metal building systems (MBS), a plus.

· Understanding and reading shop drawings, a plus.

· Working knowledge of current industry codes and standards.

· 5+ years of experience with Autodesk software programs such as AutoCAD, CADworx structure, and Navisworks

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Computer skills need to include the MS Office Suite
