Job Summary:

The Project Accounting Manager provides oversight to the Project Accounting department and works collaboratively with all departments of EMC, particularly Project Excellence and Account Management. The position requires excellent accounting aptitude, ability to analyze job cost data, excellent communication skills, and exceptional prioritization skills combined with the ability to meet deadlines. This role will provide EMC with the best overall level of service to exceed the established goals set forth by the company and the Finance department.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee all aspects of Project Accounting including supervision of personnel, goal setting, performance reviews and employee development.
  • Manage and implement improvements for change order and charge back activities to maximize EMC project gross margins across all customer accounts.
  • Partner with the cross departmental team which includes finance, sales and project excellence, for project status tracking, project reconciliation and project cost reporting and analysis.
  • Assist directly in gathering information for revenue forecasting, WIP backlog and driving to identify barriers to timely project close out and billing.
  • Responsible for supervising monthly WIP processing and revenue recognition on all project accounts.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting metrics to the Finance Director and CFO.
  • Effectively identify and overcome barriers to success, issues or problems.
  • Create and manage process flow documentation as well as standard operating procedures.
  • Implement opportunities for improvement in process efficiency.
  • Provide project close out/ reconciliation education to project excellence team.
  • Oversee period and project close procedures.
  • Manage job cost to GL reconciliations as well as project over/under billing and loss position accruals.
  • Analyze and validate job costing information and review with the sales and project excellence teams.
  • Support the Finance Director and team in various related activities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:
  • Four-year degree preferred in Accounting or Finance.
Experience Required:
  • 4+ years of accounting experience.
Experience Preferred/Other Qualifications:
  • Construction or service industry preferred
  • CPA
  • Oracle ERP
  • Management experience
Physical Job Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
