The Paraprofessional Coach is responsible for the onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of the paraprofessional staff at LFDCS. The Paraprofessional Coach works collaboratively with the administrative team to ensure effectiveness of the paraprofessional staff.
Responsibilities:
- Create a cohesive and comprehensive onboarding process for new paraprofessionals
- Participate in the hiring of paraprofessionals
- Collaborate with the Teacher Coach to design specific sessions for paraprofessionals during New Teacher Orientation in August
- Develop and provide ongoing professional development opportunities for paraprofessionals throughout the school year
- Supervise and evaluate all general education paraprofessionals
- Complete walkthroughs and provide feedback to paraprofessionals
- Support paraprofessionals in passing the Parapro and/or WorkKeys exam
- Work with the Digital Instructor to ensure paraprofessionals are well-versed in the available digital platforms at LFDCS
- Model best practices for substituting, classroom management, and collaborating with teachers in the classroom
- Train paraprofessionals on curriculum basics such as reading and following a lesson plan, grading assessments, and implementing differentiation strategies
- Meet monthly with other members of the instructional leadership team to determine the needs of the paraprofessionals
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Strong knowledge of current educational best practices around curriculum, differentiation, classroom management, and co-teaching/collaboration
- Experience in an urban education setting
- Skilled with the use of technology and digital instructional platforms
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide-range of individuals
- Excellent organization and communication skills (oral and written)
- Commitment to the goals and mission of LFDCS
- Certified Paraprofessional or Teacher
Extended School-Year Position: 205 days
Reports to: Principal
