Job Description

Overview:

The role of a Cath Lab Technician is critical to the success of the healthcare organization. The technician is responsible for operating specialized medical equipment in the cardiac catheterization laboratory to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac conditions. They play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and comfort of patients undergoing cardiac procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and maintain the cardiac catheterization lab for procedures
Operate and maintain complex imaging and monitoring equipment during cardiac procedures
Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures
Monitor and document patient vital signs during procedures
Ensure the sterile field is maintained throughout procedures
Assist with patient preparation and positioning for procedures
Handle and administer contrast media and other medications as directed by physicians
Respond effectively to emergencies and provide life support care as needed
Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver quality patient care
Participate in the maintenance and inventory of cath lab supplies and equipment
Adhere to regulatory and safety standards at all times
Provide patient education and emotional support as required
Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with protocols

Required Qualifications:

Associate degree in cardiovascular technology or related field
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) credential
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a cardiac cath lab setting
Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting cardiac cath lab equipment
Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology
Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and adherence to strict sterile techniques
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Flexibility to work varying shifts and respond to on-call duties
Compliance with all regulatory and safety guidelines
Strong ethical and professional conduct at all times

Capability to maintain composure in high-stress situations
