The Director of Cardiovascular Services is resposible for the overisght of Cath Lab department operations at Lower Keys Medical Center in Key West, Florida.

This Healthcare Administrator is required to have a current, active RN or RCIS License.  The Director of Cath Lab acts as the healthcare management liaison between Administration, the cardiology team, and the Cath Lab staff.

Job Summary
The Director, Cath Lab is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and management of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, including planning, organizing, and overseeing all administrative, operational, and clinical activities to ensure efficient and effective delivery of quality patient care. This role works closely with hospital leadership and cardiology teams to support excellence in patient outcomes, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement within the Cath Lab department.
Essential Functions

  • Directs daily operations of the Cath Lab, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality and patient-centered care.
  • Partners with cardiologists, anesthesiologists, nursing leaders, and other departments to optimize patient flow, procedure scheduling, and utilization of lab resources.
  • Oversees clinical performance metrics and implements data-driven strategies to improve patient outcomes, reduce procedural delays, and enhance throughput.
  • Collaborates with Quality, Risk Management, and Infection Prevention teams to maintain compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Develops and implements staff education programs in collaboration with clinical educators to ensure ongoing competency and professional development within the Cath Lab team.
  • Monitors and evaluates patient satisfaction, staff engagement, and physician feedback to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serves as the primary liaison to hospital administration and medical staff, providing updates on departmental performance, strategic initiatives, and resource needs.
  • Leads department readiness for surveys, inspections, and audits; ensures compliance documentation is complete and up to date.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Staff Management
    • Provides leadership, mentorship and professional development opportunities for departmental staff.
    • Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with leadership on any potential staffing issues.
    • Conducts performance evaluations, sets goals and provides feedback to staff on their performance and development.
  • Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight
    • Collaborates with hospital leadership to set the strategic direction for the department, including budgeting, resource allocation and long-term planning.
    • Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.
    • Evaluates and implements new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures and protocols to optimize quality and overall efficiencies.
  • Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies. May oversee the accreditation process with relevant agencies ensuring that services meet or exceed industry standards.
    • Participates in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.
    • Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency and safety.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
    • Stays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Staff Responsibilities
    • May work in a staff role, when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required or
  • Seven (7) plus years of direct experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in closely related field with Bachelor's degree required
  • 3-5 years of previous leadership experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure or equivalent clinical certification required or
  • RCIS - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist required or
  • ARRT Radiography Certification in Cardiac Interventional Radiography or Vascular Interventional Radiography required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required
  • CCVP - Certified Cardiovascular Catheterization Professional preferred
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred
