Are you a technology enthusiast looking for an exciting new challenge? Ivy Computer is seeking a qualified, detail-oriented professional for the role of Senior System Administrator. We're looking for someone who wants a hand in building out the next iteration of our network.  One of your first projects will be helping with the design and installation of the network in our new office building.

In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for ensuring the uptime of Ivy’s computers, servers, and internet -- basically "keeping the lights on" to limit work disruptions.  This includes system maintenance and configuration such as: installing and troubleshooting hardware and software, performing daily checks of all infrastructure, completing upgrades, ensuring our data is backed up, recovering data when needed, and auditing and addressing cyber security gaps.

You are:

  • Ready to learn and grow, willing to help others learn and grow, and able to challenge the team to always be better.
  • Highly proficient in Linux and Windows Operating Systems with a proven track record of the following:
    • ProxMox or equivalent hypervisors
    • Advanced Network Infrastructure Management (Segmentation, VLANS) including firewall deployment and management,
    • MariaDB database management,
    • Active Directory implementation and administration,
    • NFS, Self-hosted DNS and Self-hosted email server management.
  • Experienced seeing large, intricate projects through to their completion.
  • Able to demonstrate a proven history of maintaining and administering a complex network environment.
  • Highly organized and neat.
  • Excellent at recognizing and identifying current and potential future problems, researching options, and working together with a team to implement effective solutions.
  • Interested in finding ways to automate repetitive tasks to make processes more efficient.
  • Most of all, you must work and play well with others.
