The Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) & Warehouse Specialist is a key role within both our sales and operations teams. This position provides sales support by managing inventories at customer sites and building relationships with key contacts as well as performing all warehouse operations, including receipt, storage, and shipment of Swagelok products.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
This is a dual role position with approximately 60-70% of their time in the field supporting customers on-site and 30-40% of the time in the warehouse fulfilling customer orders.
Field Responsibilities:
- Manage Vendor Managed Inventories and represent Swagelok’s focus on quality and excellence
- Maintain a professional appearance when visiting customers
- Technical competency regarding Swagelok products, services, related industries, and applications
- Maintain a floating visit schedule that ensure consistent product availability at customer sites
- Help evaluate and establish optimal inventory levels
- Provide basic technical support and product selection
- Drive order processing efficiency by utilizing Inventory Management software
- Maintain relationships with key contacts.
- Keep VMIs clean, organized, and properly labeled
- Explore ways to add value to our top tier customers
- Collaborate with Account Managers to share customer insights, opportunities, leads, and ensure an optimal customer experience.
Warehouse Responsibilities:
- Promptly and accurately fulfill customer orders by pulling, packing, and shipping Swagelok products
- Provide assistance and expertise to walk-in customers in will call area
- Ensure timely shipment of product to customer by communicating constraints with Purchasing, Customer Service, and Sales teams
- Receive and inspect incoming product for accuracy against packing slip and store incoming product in proper location
- Inspect customer returns for accuracy and damage, determine if product is acceptable, and process credits
- Process material certifications, certifications of compliance, and certification of origin
- Document, file, and organize paperwork in alignment with our Quality Program
- Continuously improve through goal setting and utilizing Swagelok’s educational resources
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years equivalent experience required
- Strong mechanical aptitude required
- Friendly, outgoing personality who enjoys interacting with many different people each day
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP experience a plus
- Must be able to work collaboratively with all stakeholders, including customers, peers, and management.
- Must be detail oriented and organized, with the ability to manage a variety of tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Industrial/Mechanical experience a plus.
Position Requirements:
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to pass a near-sighted, visual acuity exam
- Lifting, carrying, and/or pushing packaging and crating (max. 50lbs)
- Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record
- Must be able to pass a drug test to drive company vehicle and access customer sites
- Exposure to moving objects and use of machinery/equipment
- Ability to sit, stand, and move around in a warehouse or office environment
