The Shipping Clerk (LTL/FTL) is responsible for ensuring that customer orders, including LTL and FTL orders, are shipped to customers on time, safety, and accurately. This position serves as the last check on the company's shipment process and attention to detail is paramount to its success. The Shipping Clerk (LTL/FTL) works alongside the Shipping Leads to double-check part numbers and item counts on shipments that have been prepared by the warehouse team and are then responsible for loading pallets onto trucks. They must update orders in the system to notify other departments including accounting and customer service that orders have shipped and ensure that shipping costs are accurately captured in the system.

Essential Functions:

Prepares will call orders for customer pickup and notifies customer service team when orders are ready for pickup.

Prepares pallets for shipment by weighing, wrapping, labeling, and loading pallets onto trucks.

Prepares bills of lading for truck mounted attenuators in order to prepare them for shipment.

Sends shipment orders to logistics team to schedule trucks for warehouse arrival to pick up shipments.

Compares shipments to original pick tickets as a final check on quality and quantity before products leave for customer delivery.

Processes transfers of products and raw materials to other company locations and prepares freight for shipment.

Uses computers to access shipping partner platforms, as well as internal warehouse management systems and ensures orders are processed accurately.

Collaborates with other warehouse staff and departments, such as picking, TMA production, logistics, and customer service, to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials and products.

Uses warehouse tools including hand scanners and printers, driving forklifts, and operating pallet jacks.

Consistently abides by established safety rules, procedures, and regulations including wearing required safety equipment such as safety shoes and glasses.

Maintains a clean and organized work environment.

Identifies and reports quality or safety issues to supervisor or manager.

Works effectively with co-workers and supervisors, sharing knowledge, resources, and experience to achieve production goals in a timely fashion, while promoting respect, communication, and teamwork.

Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Attention to detail: The ability to accurately inspect orders and validate item counts, as well as tracking prepare orders to ensure they are shipped according to customer requirements.

Time management skills: The ability to work efficiently and prioritize tasks is important to ensure products are shipped on time and orders are updated in the system in a timely manner.

Communication skills: Good verbal communication skills are important to work effectively with other team members.

Organizational skills: The ability to keep track of order numbers and inventory counts, as well as physical awareness in order to count and prepare orders for shipment while maximizing efficiencies.

Basic math skills: Basic arithmetic skills are necessary for accurately identifying parts and counting parcels for shipment.

Attention to safety: The ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines when using equipment is important to maintain a safe work environment.

Follow directions: The ability to follow established procedures while performing tasks, using tools, and handling materials. Carefully consider and follow instructions to complete tasks and deliver required results.

Dependability: Reliability and consistency of attendance, punctuality, and completion of assigned tasks according to established standards and expectations with little supervision.

Preferred Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.

At least one year of warehouse experience is preferred.

Experience operating a forklift or other powered industrial trucks is preferred.

Experience using inventory management systems such as Syspro, is preferred.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

Physical dexterity: The employee must be able to bend, twist, and reach while handling objects. The employee is also required to stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, and to hear.

Lifting: The employee must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and up to 80 lbs occasionally with the help of other employees.

Vision: The vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Endurance: The employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time and perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Exposure to elements: The employee will be working in a warehouse environment and may be exposed to varying temperatures and inclement weather conditions. There will also be frequent exposure to dirt and dust.

Noise level: The employee will be exposed to a moderate noise levels in the workplace for the majority of the day, due to the constant use of forklifts and power tools.
