This full-time Breast Ultrasound Technologist position located at our Jim and Eleanor Randall Breast Center - Pasadena!
The work schedule is: Monday-Friday from 7am-4pm/8am-5pm, or 9am-6pm (variable), and a Saturday rotation from 7am-4:30pm.
Pay Range: $32/hour - 42/hour
This vital role performs breast ultrasound examinations according to accepted department protocols, policy and procedures. Demonstrates proficiency in delivering care to assigned patient population, and participates in related continuing education.
The Breast Ultrasound Technologist follows established policies and procedures, performs ultrasound exams they are qualified to perform based on the registered specialty or specialties without supervision and minimal training, taking patient histories, call/faxing reports, and flexibility to help in other departments.
What You Will Do:
- Provides technical support for interventional studies and trains staff in ultrasound procedures and techniques.
- Assists in patient scheduling and facilitates efficient workflow within ultrasound area.
- Reviews and evaluates requisitions for ultrasound imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs.
- Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
- Responsible for the operation of ultrasound equipment for the performance of all dynamic ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring direct supervision.
- Competent with all diagnostic studies based on the certified specialty or specialties. Provide excellent patient care to various ranges of age and condition levels.
- Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data.
- Schedules and coordinates tests, records test results, and prepares and maintains operational logs.
- Calibrates and maintains equipment and orders supplies when needed.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Must exercise good and sound judgment and plan and accomplish goals.
- Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Works closely with Radiologist and referring physicians.
- Acts as a resource for specialized or complicated procedures.
What You Will Bring:
- RDMS (BR) and/or RVT certification. New graduates must obtain certification within six months of hire date. If not obtained, employment will be terminated.
- Fully licensed to perform US exams based on the certified specialty or specialties with up to date credentialing

- Familiarity with PACS systems – DR Systems preferred
- Basic understanding of ICD10 and CPT codes
- Basic understanding of insurance, both Commercial and Managed Care
- Familiarity with ACR guidelines
What Your Work Environment Will Be Like:
The employee may be exposed to radiation, blood/body fluids and/or infectious disease.
More than 50% of the time:
- Sit, stand, walk.

Less than 50% of the time:
- Stoop, kneel or crawl.

- Carry and lift (ability to move non-ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam).
