Job Description

Life University is looking for a dynamic and compassionate individual to serve as the Research Professor for Research Link, Life University’s Learning Healthcare Community. The Research Professor works to promote, facilitate, and advance the chiropractic research program at Life University through rigorous mission-focused research, collaboration, and community dialogue initiatives. Among other functions, the Research Professor will lead the development of Research Link, a vitalistic complementary healthcare learning community bringing together diverse communities, practitioners, patients, and researchers to produce relevant, easy-to-understand chiropractic research. The Research Professor will engage in research and scholarly activities, develop engagement and communication tools, and contribute to the development of a strong reputation and research portfolio for the institution. Life University has developed and implemented an Honor Code and Standards of Conduct, which serve as a set of expectations for the living and learning environment provided by the University.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs a wide range of highly complex research and engagement duties.
  2. Provides leadership and mentorship for Research Link affiliated faculty, staff, students, and collaborators.
  3. Maintains updated expertise and knowledge of research and experimental platforms for analysis, design, dissemination, and interpretation of results related to learning healthcare communities, participatory, practice-based research, and vitalism,
  4. Investigates and recommends potential alternative approaches to improve the quality of basic, applied, translational, and/or practice-based research programs.
  5. Demonstrates increased responsibility through management of teams and leadership of research projects by applying advanced knowledge, skills, and input necessary for protocol development, as well as facilitating in some training aspects of other team members.
  6. Prepares grant and other funding applications.
  7. Serves as lead investigator on research projects in alignment with the mission and research agenda of the center and/or has full responsibilities for specific components of research studies.
  8. Prepares and communicates research through presentations, publications, and multimedia informational materials to audiences of different levels to disseminate research methods, data, findings, and significance of work.
  9. Leads community dialogue and engagement through organization of events, platforms, and research-based multimedia resources designed to engage diverse communities.
  10. Assists in the recruitment, management, and engagement of learning healthcare community clinicians, participants, and broader communities.
  11. Assists in the development, implementation, and/or conduct of studies using digital research data capture and assessment.
  12. Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or requested.
  13. Treats all others with respect; understands the impact of culture/background on the behavior of others; respects differences among the Life community and demonstrates inclusive behavior.
  14. Anticipates, listens to, understands and responds to customer needs. Delivers work products and services to customers in a way that reflects positively upon the department and the University.

Requirements

  1. Minimum of an M.A. degree with research focus or PhD with research experience.
  2. Minimum two years research experience in community resilience, public engagement, and/or participatory methods.
  3. In depth understanding of vitalism, contemporary health and wellness challenges, and resilient communities.
  4. Experience leading advanced research studies, including design and application of participatory and engaged research methodologies.
  5. Strong leadership and organization skills.
  6. Experience disseminating research in scholarly publications and presentations.
  7. Strong interpersonal and meeting facilitation skills.
  8. Strong presentation and training skills.
  9. Exceptional writing skills and experience.
  10. Ability to work with and maintain confidential employee and research participant information.
  11. Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhering to strict timelines.
