Payroll Specialist/HR Coordinator (Remote)

Position Overview
This is a hybrid position responsible for processing hours worked at the appropriate rates and maintaining HRIS database to generate accurate payrolls and payroll journal entries for our clients each week. In addition to payroll processing, this person will also provide HR Support internally at MEP and with clients.
Responsibilities Include
· Assist in facilitating software logins/access for all new hires
· Processes accurate payrolls for multiple clients each week
· Generates journal entries for all payrolls that are processed and posts them weekly to Intacct
· Generates, posts and reverses payroll accruals on a period end basis when necessary
- Regularly communicates with and advises clients on payroll or HR best practices
· Assist with applicant tracking and recruiting by creating and maintaining a recruitment plan/calendar according to projected new clients. Organize and store job candidate information as well as the application status throughout the hiring experience
- Responsible for securely maintaining accurate employee information in payroll database
- Handles the set up and response paperwork for employee garnishments or support orders
- Sets up deductions and deduction goals in payroll database
- Interprets client’s vacation, sick and PTO policies to set up and maintain automatic accruals in the payroll database and in Ctuit
- This position may occasionally require evening/weekend work resulting overtime

· Has a general concept of HR function or HR-related work process
· Must be able to multitask and prioritize
· High level of attention to detail, accuracy, efficiency, and confidentiality
- Excellent communication, organization, analytical, math, problem-solving, and management skills
- Strong knowledge of technical accounting principles/practices as they relate to payroll/HR procedures
- Strong technical aptitude in automated accounting systems as well as databases and reporting tools
- Proficient with spreadsheet, database and word processing applications
Required Experience/Education:
· Must have two years accounting, payroll processing and/or HR experience or equivalent
