Summer Weekend Facilities Assistant

Join the O'Neill team as a weekend Facilities (Landscaping & Maintenance) Assistant. Facilities staff works under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor to assist in the care of the historic grounds, buildings, public areas, and private facilities. Staff will be expected to be a team player and work closely with Housekeeping, Company Management, and Production departments.  Candidates should be comfortable using power tools, mechanical equipment, able to work on their feet for long periods of time, and capable of lifting 50 lbs. 

This is a non-exempt hourly position and staff is expected to work 30-40 hours per week that will include weekends. 

Facilities Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinate with Facilities Supervisor to plan daily schedule
• Respond to maintenance requests from staff, artists,  and guests promptly and professionally
• Landscape and maintain grounds of 12-acre property
  • Plant or maintain vegetation through activities such as mulching, fertilizing, watering, mowing, or pruning
  • Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
  • Mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers.
  • Rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
  • Assist in snow removal
• Assist in routine upkeep of interior and exterior spaces
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs in the areas of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry
  • Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures
• Perform daily general clean up of all areas as directed
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Service, clean, or supply restrooms.
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Use hand or power tools for projects 
• Maintain inventory of materials and equipment 
• Complete non-routine cleaning according to specified job order
• During certain times of the year direct and/or assist seasonal workers and train them on facilities processes 

Facilities Assistant Requirements: 

• Proven experience working in fast-paced environment and comfortability working with power tools and landscaping equipment 
• The ability to work outside in all weather conditions, stand for long periods of time, and lift at least 50 lbs 
• The ability to work well with and communicate within a team 
• The ability to work independently once tasks have been assigned 
• Proven ability to be a creative problem solver and critical thinker
