About the position: As the Accounting Manager, you will oversee the accounting activities of the department which include financial and cost accounting, purchasing, accounts payable and financial reporting functions using Excel, Sage US 50 and Power BI to perform duties. Perform tasks under the direction and prioritization set by the CFO. Exercises judgment in selecting and applying established procedures correctly and in determining when to refer problems to CFO. Possess strong analytical skills, extensive knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do:

  • Manages Finance's cadence of work through coordination of efforts and expectations based on Finance's lifecycle document
  • Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation
  • Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, payables, payroll, and budget preparation
  • Recruits and hires accounting and financial staff and conducts performance evaluations
  • Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff
  • Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets
  • Oversees the timely production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit
  • Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies
  • Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Leads the monthly close cycle which include oversight of journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliation, financial reporting and analysis
  • Communicates appropriate and accurate financial results and analysis to leadership team.
  • Acts a business partner with department leaders on their financial results and planning needs
  • Other projects as requested by CFO

What you'll need:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university, Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.

Experience: 10 years in a finance or accounting role.

Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office, Proficient Excel skills required. Strong computer skills required.
