POSITION SUMMARY
Direct involvement with daily curriculum, and the planning and implementing of learning goals and objectives. The Instruction Coordinator will interact daily with support staff and will work collaboratively with the Site Director. The position requires a strong leader who can redirect lessons and activities to best suit the unique needs of participants. This staff member will reinforce classroom expectations and set the tone for the learning environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate in the creation of and support the summer curriculum created by the Site Director and Resident Services Manager.
- Confidence in designing lessons and activities for students across age groups.
- Engagement with local education learning standards to prevent summer learning loss.
- Alternate between differing games or lessons based on the needs and interests of registered students.
- Reinforce lessons implemented by tutors and identify areas of improvement.
- Foster positive relationships with students while maintaining the ability to respond to disruptions.
- Establish classroom behavior expectations for students and staff.
- Redirect distracting behavior in a fair and justice-oriented practice.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong leadership skills and comfort in responding calmly and appropriately to unexpected situations.
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with internal staff and external partners.
- Prior experience working with youth ages 5-18.
- Background in education, out-of-school-time learning, or youth development.
- Comfort directing group learning.
- Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Firm comprehension of Language Arts and Mathematics.
- Summer program running Monday through Thursday, 9-4
