Our client is a reputable Residential and Commercial Landscape company with extensive experience in the Canton Ohio market.
They provide full service maintenance services to include mowing, irrigation, gardening along with design/build services. They want to hire a Purchasing Manager with the following responsibilities.
Job Description
The Procurement Manager is a critical leader in Operations. This position is responsible for locating and purchasing the materials that we install every day. They are an experienced Buyer whose duties include locating suppliers, negotiating the best deals, placing and tracking orders, coordinating deliveries, and maintaining inventory levels. The Procurement Manager works directly with both sales and production departments and the job is 100% onsite.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for sourcing materials, researching and comparing costs, negotiating price and terms, and developing inventory control to identify demand for new materials.
- Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for materials, products and acceptable substitutions.
- Assesses current material availability, reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems and other variables.
- Prepares and presents market conditions and merchandise cost reports to the GM
- Prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions for materials and supplies.
- Understands the project's requirements, maintain schedule and quality goals.
- Schedule deliveries and resolve shipping errors.
- Maintains all stock inventory based on time of year.
- Load/unload trucks
- Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and/or suppliers under guidance of the GM
- Maintains and Implements purchasing and record keeping systems using Aspire.
- Process material change orders.
- Issues Purchase Order numbers
- Acts as company representative in negotiations with suppliers/vendors.
- Coordinates removal or disposal of surplus materials.
- Communicate and plan daily with the field supervisors, crew leaders and sales staff.
- Assist with Snow and Ice Services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong organization and documentation skills
- Critical thinker with strong analytical skills
- Enjoy finding and making a “great deal”
- Previous experience as a purchasing agent or similar position
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experienced with writing PO's
- Landscape or irrigation buying experience a plus, but is not required
