TECHNICAL DESIGNER at Beach House Group Headquarters in HOLLYWOOD, CA

BÉIS Travel is searching for a highly motivated and experienced Technical Designer who enjoys weaving creative problem solving with technical accuracy to create amazing products. This candidate will work closely with the creative team to assist in the full product lifecycle of a growing lifestyle brand. The Technical Designer should have a vast understanding of the luggage & handbag market, vast knowledge of material & component development, strong design and development skills and is able to work in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.

The TD will receive general direction and guidance but must be able to function effectively as an individual contributor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create original technical designs consistent with brand and creative direction and assortment strategy
• Execute development of technical designs, specs and tech packs
• Proficient in technical drawings and illustrations
• Create technical designs and specs according to sales and cost needs as well as emerging trends to produce creative and competitive products that will grow the business
• Maintain, and update Tech Packs with detailed specifications including measurements, construction details and trim/fabric information – effectively communicating changes to product development and external manufacturing partners
• Partner with creative team to develop and refine seasonal concepts, materials, hardware, and color palettes
• Partner with Product Development to ensure technical designs are production ready
• Expertise in construction, material development, design development of silhouette with concentration on function, finishing, embellishments and trim.
• Approve lab dips and ensure consistency with color standards
• Troubleshoot possible production issues related to construction, fabrication, or product quality with a solutions-oriented mindset
• Create, maintain, and update Tech Packs with detailed specifications including measurements, construction details and trim/fabric information – effectively communicating changes to product development and external manufacturing partners
• Responsible for timeline adherence; ensuring all specs are completed accurately and delivered to Product Development on time
• Responsible for upholding design integrity, high quality execution, and timeliness throughout the entire development process from concept through engineering and commercialization.
• Partner cross-functionally with Merchandising, Sourcing, and Product Development on regular basis. Participate in meetings with cross-functional category partners.
• Research the market regularly for creative ideas, innovative solutions within the travel and fashion space
• This Technical Designer will work closely with sourcing, factories, suppliers in order to push innovation forward.

EXPERIENCE:

• 7+ years in related Product Design/Industrial Design of soft goods, luggage and product engineering
• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
• Creativity, technical capability and sensibility for merchandising; strong ability to sketch technical drawings
• Ability to effectively interpret conceptual designs based on direction given by our Design team while maintaining the integrity of brand and quality standards
• Experience developing product directly with factories; understanding of development from concept through engineering, required
• Vast understanding of materials, hardware, molds, and construction and development - required
• Must possess a strong fashion sense and have the ability to interpret trends
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group at all levels
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow-up
• Must be flexible with the ability to self-manage and handle multiple priorities at once
• Must be a collaborative, team player with great initiative
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office
• Must have an understanding of price relation to product development
• Ability to create & maintain line boards of seasonal product using Illustrator Acrobat
• Ability to identify fashion trends and interpret them into commercial designs
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop
• Knowledge of fabrics and trims, sourcing, material and product specs, luggage and technical bag construction, pattern making, related testing and costing

SKILLS:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Project management
• Solidworks or 3D CAD capabilities

Salary Range: $95,000 - $120,000 annually
