Position Available: Career Readiness Specialist

We are seeking a full-time We are seeking a full-time Career Readiness Specialist who is reliable, compassionate, has a great work ethic, and also loves to work with youth! Be the mentor who helps students strive for employment by empowering them to do their best, overcome challenges and work to develop the skills to become lifelong employees.

Provides engaging instruction, to include, but not limited to, resume writing, interviewing techniques, mock interviews, job search techniques, job retention strategies, employability skills, life skills training, etc. and evaluates student progress. Identify and use appropriate materials for the students being taught and the department goals established.

We are looking for an individual who is well organized with great attention to detail and possesses strong oral and written communication skills. The ability to work as a team member and the ability to be self-motivated is essential for success. The position requires proficiency in the use of computers and common computer software (Microsoft Office and other career options and job search applications).

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, human services or related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education, vocational training, and/or experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-to-year basis. Must possess a New York State Valid Driving License with an acceptable driving record. Compensation is based on experience.

What is Job Corps? It is the country's most extensive nationwide residential career training program and has been operating for over 50 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps has trained and educated over two million individuals since 1964.

Iroquois Job Corps offers training in the medical trades (Certified Nursing Assistant and Certified Medical Assistant), Bricklaying, Carpentry, Electrical and Paint.
