Elementary Program Coordinator
 

Reports to: Youth Advocate 

Job Summary: 

As the leader of TRH’s elementary program (On Belay), the Elementary Program Coordinator (also known as Elementary Youth Advocate) oversees activities for kindergarten through fifth-grade students. The Elementary Program Coordinator is integral to the Family Support Team, working closely with both Family Advocates (FA) and Youth Advocate (YA). 

Essential Job Duties:

  • Oversee and implement student-centered activities, field trips, and special events at On Belay after-school and summer program for K-5 youth 
  • Attend and participate in all meetings, including FST meetings, weekly staff meetings, off-site planning meetings, one-on-one meetings, annual staff retreat, and annual Christian Community Development Conference
  • Establish and maintain regular, timely communication with families who participate in On Belay as well as those with other school-aged children within The Village
  • Meet with  guardians, children, and Family Advocates, to craft specific plans tailored to each child, addressing the child’s unique strengths and needs using EMPath's Intergen Model and Harmony Family Center's therapeutic assessments for children
  • Keep accurate records of program attendance, student progress, and evaluation data
  • Ensure that all program staff, interns, and volunteers implement trauma-responsive practices by facilitating necessary training in conjunction with the YA
  • Collaborate with YAs and Director of Programs (DoP) in selecting new team members, including recruiting and interviewing top candidates as needed
  • Manage program budget and resources, including procurement of supplies and equipment while complying with organizational fiscal policies and procedures 
  • Prepare regular reports for program funders, stakeholders, and board members
  • Maintain current photos and videos of On Belay activities for documentation and marketing
  • Coordinate with school personnel for pick-ups, engage in academic discussions with teachers, and nurture ongoing partnerships with the school staff
  • Actively seek partnership opportunities relevant to On Belay
  • Oversee additional projects and assignments as delegated
  • Follow and enforce all organizational safety standards, including but not limited to behavior, discipline, child ratios, transportation, CPR, emergency procedures and first aid 

Qualifications:

Dedication to Youth Advocacy: 

  • Experience in roles focused on teaching, mentoring, and behavioral strategies for children
  • Familiarity with reflective listening, safety planning, and trauma-informed practices for holistic well-being
  • Willingness to learn the principles of a 'When Helping Hurts' philosophy while advocating for children from diverse backgrounds
  • Desire to grow and maintain relationships with other community service organizations, churches, etc. for the benefit of the families at The Restoration House
  • Must possess a valid TN driver’s license and be willing to obtain a CDL

    • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
    • Able to set and maintain professional boundaries with participant families

Compensation/Benefits

  1. This is a salaried position and compensation is determined based on experience and education – Range of $38K to $42K annually 
  • Paid by direct deposit twice per month
  1. Health insurance; covered 100% for employee after first 3 months of employment
  2. Paid time off:
  • Vacation: 10 days of paid vacation (eligible after first 90 days) + annual increase based on years employed
  • Sick/Personal Days: 5 days in year one + annual increase based on years employed
  • Spiritual Renewal Days: 1 day each quarter 
  • Paid Holidays: 11 paid holidays per year
  1. Paid individual professional development up to $600 per year
  2. Reimbursement for individual therapy sessions up to $500 per year
  3. Monthly micro-bonuses
  4. Free family membership to the YMCA (all Knoxville branches)
  5. Flextime 
  6. Ability to work from home as approved

Hours: 

This job is a full-time position with an average of 40+ hours per week, including occasional weekends or weeknights.
