Experienced Groom/Rider

Endsley Oaks Farm, Inc. in Brooksville, FL is currently seeking a full-time experienced horse person to work at the broodmare division. Duties include acting as a groom/rider/trainer and include knowledge about pregnant broodmares and foaling along with the ability to work with our retired racehorses and broodmares to prepare them for their second career/next home. The ideal candidate will have a background in caring for horses, especially performance horses, broodmares, and foals, as well as strong dressage or eventing background, experience with off-the-track thoroughbreds, and knowledge of disciplines beyond dressage and eventing. We seek someone with soft hands and a good seat who prefers to train as a team instead of domination over the animal. The ideal candidate will also be able to drive a trailer to transport horses to other properties for breeding, vet transportation, training, trail riding, and showing. Position will also include marketing the horses ready for sale, vetting potential buyers, and facilitating the sale. Position also includes feeding horses, ensuring water is clean and full, cleaning stalls, grooming, working with vets and farriers to schedule care, and holding horses during visit. During foaling season overnight foal watch will be required with additional team support. This is not a position for someone who has only taken a few riding lessons or has had no formal training. Candidates will be asked to demonstrate their riding ability at the interview so please come prepared to ride (boots, helmets, etc.).

This is a full-time position with overnights required during foaling season. Minimum of 40 hours a week guaranteed, more hours available.

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be over 18 years old. Employment contingent upon passing a drug test, background check, and being approved by our commercial auto insurance carrier as an authorized driver.

Pay begins at $18 an hour and base pay will increase commensurate with experience. 10% commission on all sales you broker. Medical, dental, and vision benefits are available after 90 days, 401k with company match after 6 months, and 1 week paid vacation after 1 year.
