Job Description

Hack & Hustle Social Entrepreneurship Academy is a nonprofit workforce development program providing technology and entrepreneurship training, mentoring, mental wellness, and Hip Hop/music for youth. We are looking for a Program Manager that can organize, plan, and execute the overall program with help from project coordinators in each area. The Program Manager will report to the Founder & Executive Director. Projects include solar power, programming, and other technology projects. We have entrepreneurial projects where minority scholars think of a new product or service, create a pitch and present it to a panel of judges. Each day we review a scientist/engineer of color to give the scholars self-confidence.

Program Planning:

Works with the Executive Director and support staff in order to fulfill the organization’s mission.

● Participate and facilitate meetings with project team leaders, facilitators, business leaders and others upon request.

● Engage with Executive Director and team members to ensure appropriate assessments/measurements/data collection are in place to assess impact and effectiveness of learning programs.

● Lead the organization’s recruitment process.

● Assist with the organization’s campaigns as needed.

● Plan hands-on technology projects, entrepreneurship pitch decks, schedule guest speakers.

Program Implementation:

● Communicate with parents and volunteers as needed.

● Hybrid sessions, meaning some scholars participate in person while others attend online via Zoom. The program manager must make sure the Zoom link is up and the in-person location is open.

● Ensure that all scholars are present, keeping track of those that are not present or arrive late. They must have a valid excuse for arriving late or not attending.

● Work to ensure that intake of participants is completed and appropriately stored in a timely manner.

● Make sure all project coordinators are prepared to teach their subjects each day. The Project Coordinators will alternate leading the class for a 5-minute meditation session in the beginning of class. The Project Coordinators will review a scientist/engineer of color using Black History flashcards.

● Monitor the time of each activity and know when to take 15-min breaks and when to break for lunch.

● Complete weekly updates and reports in a timely manner.

● Ensure safety of youth at all times.

● Build and maintain a positive environment for all youth.

Program Operations:

● Manage the registration process (online, in-person). Participants, volunteers.

● Assist with collecting data and administering surveys.

● Assist with organization development as needed.

● Cultivate relationships with community partners

● After the program ends, conduct an online evaluation survey of participants and volunteers.

● Two years of experience with youth (Ages 14-24)

● 2-3 years of experience managing multiple related groups.

● Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (preferred but optional).

● Project management experience

● Must agree to a background check and sign a sexual abuse misconduct policy.

● Ability to communicate orally and writing in a clear and straightforward manner.

● Ability to think critically, strategically and anticipate future trends, needs and expectations.

● Ability to work independently and with a group.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

● Strong written and oral communication skills.

● Demonstrated ability to collaborate with staff and participants.

● Strong computer skills (MAC and/or Windows) for administrative responsibilities.

● A leader in a teamwork environment.

● Push, pull, lift up to 30lbs
