Summary:

Support the CFO with managing accounting processes such as general ledger maintenance & financial reporting, AP/AR processes & management and payroll management. Manage Work in Progress (WIP) reporting and job costing analysis. Compile & review financial information, recommending improvements and implementation of best practices/pivots, as necessary.

The successful candidate will have a clear pathway to become the CFO in 5-7 years.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Job cost management and WIP reporting.
  • Process contract billings.
  • Subcontractor compliance management.
  • Lead accounting staff by overseeing AP/AR, payroll, and operations support.
  • Review & post payroll journal & job costing system entries and accruals to accounting software systems.
  • Monitor and suggest improvements to processes and internal controls.
  • Manages AR and collection communications.
  • Recommends policies and develops procedures relating to financial and business practices.
  • Play a vital role in managing & utilizing current accounting software systems.
  • Work closely with project management team in financial forecasting, cost report analysis, and WIP report generation.
  • Produce regular ad-hoc financial reports, forecasts, and analyses.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


Assist CFO with:

  • Preparation, generation, and review of financial reports on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Preparation of sales and use tax returns.
  • Timely completion of external financial statements under US GAAP.
  • Management of the annual CPA review and preparation of necessary forms and documents.
  • Budgeting and variance analysis.
  • Month-end closing processes.
  • Daily and monthly bank account reconciliations.
  • Analyze and interpret balance sheet and income statement metrics and trends.
  • Planning functions, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Relationships with external accounting firms and tax advisors.
  • Account analysis, as needed.


Education Level:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field


Experience Desired:

  • A minimum of 5 years accounting experience; construction industry experience a plus.
  • CPA preferred
  • Fluent in budget planning, balance sheets, and month end close practices.
  • Fluent in General Ledger reconciliation and account analysis
  • Experience working in/with a family business a plus.
  • S-Corp Taxation experience a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, wearing multiple hats with constant interruptions.
  • Proven leadership skills to guide and stive for continuous improvement.
  • Successful experience collaborating with other team members and departments.


Skills Required:

  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and other MS Office Suite applications.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional sense of accuracy and urgency.
  • Ability to adapt to conflicting demands.
  • Strong sense of problem solving with superior attention to detail.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a relatively stationary position.
  • Ability to perform repeated bending, standing, and reaching.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
