GROWWTH PROGRAM COORDINATOR
Position Overview
The GROWWTH (Growing Relational and Occupational Wealth in West Tennessee Households) Program Coordinator will play a leadership role in working to eliminate key barriers to self-sufficiency for low-income wage earners in the West Tennessee region.
This position provides leadership to the overall program by connecting eligible parents and families to the Program. In this role, you will be directly responsible for meeting goals and driving results. This position will partner with all areas of the YMCA and reports directly to the Vice President of Workforce Development.
Essential Functions
Recruitment & Engagement
- Market GROWWTH program to YMCA parents and families
- Planning and facilitating regular activities such as information sessions, shadowing, etc.
- Incorporate GROWWTH into outreach and educational events
- Coordinate opportunities for GROWWTH Academy facilitation at YMCA sites
- Coordinate opportunities for wellness activities at YMCA sites
- Project Management
- Maintains enrollment records
- Track yield rates
- Project manages the information sessions and related programs
Childcare Training Opportunities
- Facilitation of educational opportunities for job-seeking GROWWTH Participants
- Activities such as information sessions, shadowing, etc.
- Hiring and training GROWWTH Participants who are interested in working in the childcare field
Call-Center Integration
- Connecting parents to the GROWWTH Program as part of the call center
- Creating a one-stop customer service experience for YMCA families who need to connect with GROWWTH staff
- Integration for inquiries and enrollments
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
This role is responsible for reporting and tracking YMCA progress toward goals in the Shelby
County region. Understanding of project management, meeting deadlines and deliverables.
Excellent skills in problem solving and resource identification. Previous experience working with
low-income families. High-level problem-solving skills. Proven history of building and
maintaining relationships with organizations in the community.

Growing Relational and Occupational Wealth in West Tennessee Households (GROWWTH) is a community partnership led by the University of Memphis that will work to eliminate key barriers to self-sufficiency for low-income wage earners in the West Tennessee region.
GROWWTH has developed plans to improve family access to needed resources for economic mobility, implement a holistic approach to improving the personal and professional well-being of families, strengthen the existing system through partner resources and inspire families to appreciate the value of growth and lifelong learning. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and (2) years of experience in community engagement, recruitment, communication or combination of experience (or relevant industry experience). Understanding and awareness of the needs of disadvantaged individuals and other persons who face barriers to employment (WIOA, TANF, SNAP, Youth).
Additional Information
- This is a Full-Time position.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to accommodate information sessions.
- Frequent travel throughout region.
- This is a grant funded position contingent upon funding.
