Job Description

Summary: Plan, design, and furnish interiors of residential, commercial, or industrial buildings. Formulate design that is practical, aesthetic, and conducive to intended purposes, such as raising productivity, selling merchandise, or improving lifestyle. May specialize in a particular field, style, or phase of interior design.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Interior Design team to facilitate a smooth process for assigned clients.
  • Establishes a relationship with assigned clients to help define their needs.
  • Develops Specification Sheets for all assigned projects
  • Develops space plans; provides design concepts to meet architectural and interior design solutions.
  • Advises client on interior design factors such as space planning and layout and use of furnishings or equipment, and color coordination.
  • Ensures designs meet applicable codes and regulations.
  • Develops finish schedules and prepares color books that are accurately coordinated with those schedules and construction drawings.
  • Coordinates design and implementation with other disciplines including but not limited to architecture, lighting, graphics, and systems.
  • Provides administrative support to the Interior Design team and Project Managers; including invoice management, vendor/supplier timelines, procuring samples from vendors, requesting bids from vendors.
  • Fields client correspondence and organizes meetings for assigned projects, including the lead designer.
  • Maintains and organizes the interior design room.
  • Coordinates with a general contractor for any changes to the floor plan.
  • Reads and interprets construction documents.
  • Attends regularly scheduled meetings with the team to stay abreast of tasks, challenges, etc.
  • Continues personal/professional development through continuing education classes.
  • Verifies and draws existing building and interior space plans, using site field measurements if applicable.
  • Understands future trends in home/building design and interiors industry and develops designs based on these trends.
  • Coordinate with other professionals, such as contractors, architects, engineers, and plumbers, to ensure job success while maintaining thorough and accurate communication and project documentation from project inception to completion.
  • Monitors project budget.
  • Participates in marketing and advertising programs.
  • Based on business needs, will provide back-up to front desk for administrative responsibilities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Fine Arts or design-related field, preferred.
  • Two (2) years of related experience or equivalent.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Other as expected in a typical office work environment
