Early Morning, Nights and Weekends
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing direct leadership and supervision of the Health and Wellness Center. This position is will work with the Health and Fitness Director and continually communicate all information pertaining to the center. This position will be expected to promote the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in every activity associated with the YMCA. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for the scheduling and booking process of clients in ActiveNet.
2. Conducts one on one and/or buddy personal training session of YMCA members.
3. Responsible for member services and facility/equipment care.
4. Conducts health risk appraisals, fitness evaluations and has proactive role in member retention.
5. Maintaining the highest safety standards in every aspect of program operations.
6. Working closely with the Health and Fitness Director to ensure good communication and operations of all programs.
7. Adhering to all YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
8. Distributing all communication materials in coordination with the Health and Fitness Director.
9. Attending clinics, workshops and staff meetings as assigned by the Health and Fitness Director.
10. Maintaining accurate records for all programs.
11. Completes accident/incident reports for any occurrences while on duty.
12. Coordinating and assisting in all special events relating to the YMCA.
13. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
14. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
15. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
16. Maintains a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
17. Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum age of 20.
2. Certifications: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid.
3. YMCA Exercise and Strength Trainer certification or Nationally Recognized Fitness Certification
4. 1 year experience.
5. Completion of required trainings.
6. Excellent communication skills.
7. A commitment to continuous quality program improvements.
8. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
2. Ability to lift and carry 15-50 lbs.
3. Must be able to see, hear, direct, and assist members, guests, and staff to ensure safety.
