- Compensation: $16-$19/hr (depends on experience)
- Schedule: Monday - Thursday 6am-4pm, Friday 6am-3pm (occasional overtime)
Basic Function/Job Overview:
The Laminator position is responsible for building and laminating countertops under the day-to-day supervision of the Lead Laminator. This position is also responsible for reading and following blueprints and work instructions, building and laminating casework, preparing laminate panels and edging for cabinets and finishing any other laminate work required for a job.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Cut out, build, laminate, file and clean countertops, cabinets and cabinet components.
- Laminate panels, cut edging, laminate cabinets, trim strips and complete any other laminate work required for assigned jobs.
- Inspect finished products to determine if all work is flat and without distortions and that laminate panels are glued without warpage and that glue has dried.
- Monitor manufacturing specifications in blueprint-type documents to ensure that proper materials are used for job orders and work meets Company quality standards and job specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used for job orders using material usage sheets and report laminate factory defects to the Lead Laminator.
- Apply 5 S principals to all aspects of job.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties & Requirements:
This position requires the ability to use hands to operate woodwork manufacturing equipment, including but not limited to table saw, router, laminate file, use of spraying equipment and contact cement. This position requires the ability to focus on details and quality standards. Ability to stand, sit, stoop and move from location to location is required. This position requires the ability to regularly lift and/or move items from ten (10) pounds to 150 pounds. Ability to handle full sheets of laminate materials and particle boards is also required. The ability to read and understand shop drawings and blueprints in English is required. This position requires the ability to work extended hours to meet deadlines. This position also requires the ability to work in an enclosed woodworking manufacturing environment which is heated and cooled based on the weather, but may not always have an optimal temperature.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency with power and hand tools usage and care
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, including accurate ability to measure and interpret size and part requirements from the drawings.
- Ability to use basic math functions, read a ruler and tape measure, and calculate appropriate amounts of materials.
- Ability to use computer record keeping and reporting applications.
- Knowledge of 5S concepts in day-to-day operations.
Experience Required or Educational Equivalent:
Required:
- 1+ years hands-on experience working with laminate material, laminate casework and counter tops in a manufacturing or woodworking environment.
