Job description

Description

Mosaic is a design-driven interior supplier and distributor serving builders, remodelers, and design professionals. Our business is built on exceptional service, technical expertise, and long-term professional relationships-not transactional retail sales.

With a curated portfolio led by custom and semi-custom cabinetry, along with tile, stone, plumbing, lighting, and flooring, Mosaic supports complex residential and light-commercial projects across the Mid-Atlantic. Headquartered in Chantilly, VA, Mosaic operates nine Design Centers across Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina, along with a Central Servicing Center and Warehouse in Doswell, VA.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Custom Cabinetry Designer to join our Virginia Beach Design Center team, supporting high-end residential projects with a strong emphasis on custom and semi-custom cabinetry. This role blends high-level cabinetry design with direct sales responsibility, requiring equal strength in technical design execution and client conversion.

In addition to serving the Virginia Beach market, this position will:

  • Occasionally support client meetings in our Richmond location
  • Provide advanced 20/20 Design support to Mosaic's broader Cabinetry Design team, assisting with complex layouts, revisions, and execution-ready designs across multiple markets

What You'll Do

  • Partner with builders, contractors, architects, and interior designers on custom and semi-custom cabinetry solutions
  • Lead client consultations from initial concept through final sale and close, using a consultative, value-driven sales approach
  • Produce accurate, build-ready layouts, elevations, and specifications in 20/20 Design, following established Mosaic templates and standards
  • Serve as a technical design resource for fellow cabinetry designers on complex projects
  • Participate in select in-person client meetings at the Richmond location as needed
  • Guide clients through door styles, finishes, storage solutions, and functional enhancements
  • Collaborate with Mosaic's Project Designers and Design Centers to deliver a fully integrated kitchen solution-coordinating cabinetry with hardware, sinks, faucets, lighting, tile, backsplash, and flooring selections
  • Identify opportunities to expand project scope by thoughtfully introducing complementary Mosaic product categories
  • Maintain exceptional accuracy in measurements, specifications, pricing, and documentation
  • Stay current on cabinet construction standards, manufacturer offerings, and luxury design trends

Requirements

 What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of cabinetry design experience (custom or semi-custom kitchen & bath)
  • Expert-level proficiency in 20/20 Design (required)
  • Proven ability to convert design expertise into closed sales
  • Strong understanding of cabinetry construction, installation requirements, and field conditions
  • Comfortable owning projects end-to-end, including revenue responsibility
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and highly accountable
  • Professional communication style appropriate for high-end residential clients and trade      partners
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within Virginia (primarily to Richmond)

Why Mosaic

  • Competitive base salary plus commission and participation in company profit-sharing
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Paid Holidays, including your birthday
  • Generous Paid Time Off
  • 401(k) with employer matching through John Hancock
  • Employee product discounts
  • Flexible scheduling that respects project demands and work-life balance
  • Long-term growth opportunities within a design-driven organization
