Job Description

SUMMARY:

Writes or updates code to deliver on stated objectives, standards and performance. Provides technical direction to define the solution or product, ensures code standards and approaches are maintained, performs peer reviews and responds to questions, bugs or problems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serves as a team member to understand product deliverables and outcomes; provides technical direction or assistance to define the technology and solution.
  • Writes, updates or modifies code to deliver stated objectives, performance and outcomes.
  • Performs peer review or analysis to reduce or eliminate causes of failures, bugs or unexpected results; determines solutions or recommendations as appropriate.
  • Provides research and feedback to resolve management and client questions and requirements; assists with receiving customer feedback and coordinating resources and responses as required.
  • Analyzes and reviews software and products on an ongoing and as needed basis to determine trends, draw conclusions, interpret findings, and presents results, proposals and recommendations to management.
  • Ensures the accuracy of software, reports, and related details through audits, queries, and operational reviews; works with teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Need to Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related
  • 5 years of software development experience; or equivalent education and experience.

Nice to Have:

  • Healthcare technology experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Required Knowledge:

  • Complex principles, practices and techniques of software development.
  • Approaches to perform peer review and analysis.
  • Requires proven experience using Java Spring, Spring Core/Boot/MVC/Cloud in an Enterprise level application
  • Experience coding, deploying, and supporting applications on AWS
  • Proven experience writing complex SQL statements and knowledge of RDBMS concepts
  • Proven experience using a UI TypeScript based frameworks (Angular)
  • Experience with working with micro services
  • Preferred experience working on web application in a cloud-based architecture
  • Agile lifecycle preferably in a SCRUM process
  • Technology project management principles and approaches.
  • Advanced understanding of software administration, programs, policies and procedures.
  • Various methods to identify and resolve software failures, bugs or unexpected results.
  • Methods and approaches to analyze and improve software performance.
  • Principles and practices to serving as an effective project team member.
  • Ability to communicate with staff, coworkers, and customers in a respectful, effective and appropriate fashion.
  • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Optional Skills:

  • Experience with PHP
  • Experience with React or Vue
  • TypeScript in non-UI applications

Career Path Levels

Software Engineer

  • Integrates complex/sensitive development
  • Supports or requires more assistance on more complex/sensitive applications
  • Results in more limited rework and peer reviews
  • 5+ years of experience

Senior Software Engineer

  • Leads or translates large and highly technical development and applications
  • Results in limited to no rework and data fallout
  • 8+ years of experience

Travel as needed to support company and customer initiatives. Work on Site in our St Paul office may be required and ABOUT reserves the right to change the location of the role at any time.

This role may involve work on federal government contracts that require additional federal background investigations, training, and federal badging. As such, you will may required to submit personal information to the government and be fingerprinted and photographed at your local Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center.
