Job Description


ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

The Civil Engineering Technician's role will be centered around contract administration and project management support. This individual will collaborate closely with Project Managers and Engineering teams to ensure the smooth progression of projects from conception to completion. Key responsibilities include: Assisting in the preparation, review, and management of maintenance contracts, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and in compliance with organizational standards. Playing an active role in scheduling reviews, providing insights and updates to ensure timelines are met efficiently. Supporting the coordination between project teams and stakeholders to facilitate clear communication and the resolution of any issues related to contract specifications or project timelines. Utilizing various software tools to track project progress and contract milestones, making adjustments as necessary to align with project goals and deadlines. Engaging in continuous monitoring and reporting on the status of contracts, identifying potential risks or delays, and recommending solutions. This position offers a young civil engineer the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the administrative and contractual facets of engineering projects, including a deeper understanding of the nuances of contract law as it applies to construction and engineering. The role requires a proactive approach, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team to ensure project success. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on project needs and individual growth.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 

  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrates expertise and efficiency in Microsoft software, as well as familiarity with AASHTO and DOT standards.
    Writing skills and routine calculations required for the preparation of contracts. Experience in data management and error correction in databases. 
  • Detail-Oriented: Demonstrates the ability to identify and solve problems related to contract language, data and documentation, to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. 
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrates the ability to identify and solve problems related to contracts, data management, and submittal processes to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Data Management: Compile, manipulate and refine data from a variety of sources including, but not limited to, field observation, digital aerial photography, existing maps, and non-spatial databases. Able to comprehend, analyze, organize and prioritize a large volume and wide variety of information within time limitations.
