Job Description
Job Summary
Liaison between business units, IT departments and third-party vendors; completes business cases to support system changes and/or enhancements. Document systems needs for new and existing product lines. Trains appropriate staff on new system changes. Assist in the research and development of new programs.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Review manuals and forms for filing to interpret for programing.
  • Assist in the research and development of new forms and underwriting manuals for new programs.
  • Research and gather market intel from competitor on current guidelines and forms being used.
  • Acts as a liaison between IT and business units by opening and maintaining lines of communication to monitor and improve business unit satisfaction with IT.
  • Provides a single point of contact for business units with respects to business process improvements and IT projects and acts as a conduit between all parties involved.
  • Maintain issues list of bugs and enhancements.
  • Research and makes recommendations for efficiencies and/or technical enhancements.
  • Manages business unit expectations of all initiatives.
  • Leads and facilitates Business Process sessions, acting as a documentation, co-facilitator, facilitator, or subject matter expert. (Support would be provided for product specific knowledge.)
  • Review and help create business requirement documents.
  • Review and execute test plans. Including release testing and sign-off
  • Gathers and documents requirements, specifications, test, support and training plans to ensure they are in line with business objectives on projects.
  • Participates in root cause analysis in order to recommend product or service enhancements or other appropriate actions to improve productivity for both the business units and IT.
  • May act as a project manager on some projects.
  • Assist in the training of staff on new system functionality and enhancements.
  • Review underwriting workflow and procedure for workflow improvements.
  • Work closely with the management on system and product related issue.

Qualifications
  • Min. 5 years of insurance company experience in property and casualty insurance.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial or personal lines products and the underwriting process involved preferred.
  • Good familiarity with Florida Insurance regulations/requirements
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Advanced computer skills and strong systems knowledge

  • Ability to use computer systems to analyze data and research information on risks
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to comprehend and offer solutions to complex problems and conduct risk analysis
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical equations
  • Ability to understand technical ideas and convey them to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing

Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Working conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate technical ideas to a non-technical audience. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In this role you may be asked to travel to the corporate office or other satellite offices (10% travel).
