We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our top notch team of professionals!

Full-Time (Monday-Friday)

Flexible to travel to Woodlands office, Woodforest office and/or Spring office



JOB SUMMARY: Occupational therapists are responsible for examining, evaluating, diagnosing, developing treatment plans, and providing prognoses for patients on an individual basis. The OT will assess the client’s functional abilities, including physical, emotional, cognitive and sensory components to evaluate the necessity of skilled occupational therapy intervention. A patient’s history, context, and goals for treatment should be taken into account when determining a treatment plan. Through the modalities of exercise, mobilization, manual therapy, heat, cold, biofeedback, paraffin baths, whirlpools, iontophoresis, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound, occupational therapists work to restore function, improve mobility, and decrease pain with the goal of re-establishing a patient’s prior functional level. More specifically, the specialization of treating patients with hand dysfunction, the occupational therapists diagnose, manage, and treat disorders and injuries of the musculoskeletal system as well as rehabilitate patients after orthopedic surgery. They are trained in the treatment of postoperative joints, sports injuries, arthritis, and many other musculoskeletal system disorders. The OT will progress their clients through objective reassessment and by providing home exercise programs. The OT will supervise occupational therapy assistants, occupational therapy aides, and occupational therapy students in accordance with standards set by American Occupational Therapy Association, the state of Texas, and by SROSM.


Occupational Therapist Duties:

· Provide educational information about occupational therapy injury prevention, ergonomics and ways to promote health.

· Refer clients to community resources and services.

· Plan, prepare and carry out individually designed programs of occupational therapy treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.

· Focus on the evaluation of strength, range of motion, coordination, endurance, and posture of each patient.

· Perform and document an initial exam, evaluating the data to identify impairments and determine a diagnosis prior to intervention.

· Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.

· Administer manual exercises, massage to help relieve pain, increase the patient's strength/ ROM, and decrease or prevent deformity.

· Provides and/or recommends equipment or supplies for home use and gives instruction of an “in-home” treatment program to facilitate rehabilitation to promote independence in care.

· Confers and communicates with referring physicians and other appropriate person through the use of progress notes, letters, evaluations, meetings, and direct contact concerning the proposed course, progress, and discharge plan of each patient.

· Provides clinical supervision to therapy staff regarding patient assessment and implementation of treatment plan.

· Other duties as assigned or are necessary to ensure the success of the OT program at SROSM.

Requirements:

Education/Qualifications:

· Bachelor, Master, and/or Doctorate degree in Occupational therapy from an accredited university/program.

· Occupational Therapy Licensure of PT and OT Examiners in the State of Texas.

· CPR certified.

· Knowledge of basic science including biology, chemistry, and physics as well as biomechanics, neuroanatomy, and disease manifestations.

· Excellent customer (patient) service skills with the ability to maintain that demeanor when dealing with difficult, impatient, or upset people.

· Able to meet deadlines and modify treatment plans as appropriate.

· Knowledge of EMR systems.
