Job Description

Harborlight Homes is a non-profit, affordable housing developer and property management organization. The Maintenance Technician ensures the overall upkeep and functionality of designated properties within the North Shore region. Responsible for maintenance tasks, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of our properties, Maintenance Technicians are an essential part of our team to drive forward the mission of Harborlight Homes.

On a regular day you will performs preventative maintenance tasks and routine repairs on moderately complex systems and equipment issues responding to resident service requests and documenting work orders, support building and grounds maintenance in all seasons, cut and maintain lawns and grass; rake leaves and care for plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs; remove snow and dirt, ensure a clean, attractive, orderly, and safe property environment, conduct periodic safety and maintenance inspections, diagnose and repair basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in larger projects and organizational initiatives. In addition, you will help with apartment turnovers to ensure maximum occupancy and optimum housing opportunities.

The be successful in this role, you are a self-starter who can independently perform routine repairs on moderately complex systems and equipment issues. As the main point of contact, you are communicative and able create positive resident experiences. You are able to plan and organize, prioritizing maintenance needs and efficiently manage duties and responsibilities. You are collaborative and thorough in all of your work.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent, trade apprenticeship or technical training
  2. Preferred minimum of 2-4 years relevant experience
  3. General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, flooring, or general trades
  4. A valid driver's and/or access to reliable transportation to travel throughout the North Shore.
