Job Description

Summary:

Support R&D and Sustaining Engineering efforts for positive displacement reciprocating frac pumps.  Work with an inter-departmental team to design or revise pump solutions that emphasize safety, design for manufacturability, and ease of maintenance to exceed customer expectations.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Support sustaining engineering solutions for existing pump designs and provide new solutions for upcoming projects.
  • Solve complex engineering calculations pertaining, including static or cyclical operational stresses, new product development, fatigue lifecycle estimates.
  • Populate design documentation for ISO compliance and white papers for sales and marketing literature.
  • Generate/revise/obsolete engineering prints utilizing best drafting practices via ECR/ECN process.
  • Create models and drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Produce written reports and make presentations.
  • On-site field support for root cause analysis and engineering testing.
  • Comprehensive customer interaction for failure analysis and design improvement.
  • Support supplier development by aiding in audits, root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions.
  • Engages interest and participation of others; have a collaborative approach to working with others and proactively contributes to the Team.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Understanding of measurement techniques, metrology, inspection methods and equipment.
  • Understanding manufacturing processes and the ability to work in diverse manufacturing environments.
  • Planning and prioritizing activities.
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to present data effectively to all levels of management, whether internal or external.
  • Familiarity with all or some of the following:
  • Weldments and joint design in accordance with ASME Section IX and AWS D1.1 standard preferred
  • Pressure vessel design preferred
  • Understanding of fluid dynamics and flow.
  • Proficient with Solid Works or similar engineering design software required.
  • Solidworks Simulation and ANSYS Mechanical preferred
  • Advanced expertise with Microsoft Office Suite of products, Word, Excel.

Education

  • BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree.

Experience

  • 4+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience, preferably in Oil & Gas and/or heavy machinery manufacturing environment.
