Job Description

AECOM's Flood Risk Solutions group has an immediate opening for a junior level Water Resources engineer, to report out of our Austin, TX office. You will be part of a national team that supports our FEMA projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Work with a team of Project managers, Water Resources Engineers and GIS specialists in support of FEMA floodplain modeling and mapping studies and other several water resources projects
  • Performs Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling and analyses to comply with FEMA guidelines and specifications
  • Perform one dimensional and two-dimensional floodplain modeling using software applications like HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS
  • Efficiently work with ArcGIS software in support of floodplain modeling and mapping
  • Prepare project reports, including engineering calculations, research, planning and technical engineering reports
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member Stormwater modeling, analysis, and design
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :
  • BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering or a related discipline with an emphasis in water
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Demonstrated proficiencies in HEC-RAS 2D and ArcMap
Preferred Qualifications :
  • Masters' degree in Water Resources Engineering or a closely related degree
  • Experience working with a variety of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software(HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, InfoWorks, StormCAD/CivilStorm, WaterGEMs, etc)
  • Understanding of hydrology and hydraulic processes supported by relevant coursework
  • Professional Engineering license
  • Desire to succeed in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment
  • Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication will be needed to coordinate with technical and non-technical staff.
