Drafter/CAD Operator IV

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY AREAS AND DUTIES
• Prepares various AutoCAD drawings to include multiple views, details, and assembly drawings.
• Drawings may include complex design features that require drafting skills to visualize and portray.
• Assignments may require the use of mathematical formulas to convert scales, quantities of material, and dimensions.
• Works from sketches, as-build changes, and verbal information supplied by an engineer or designer to determine the most appropriate method to complete assignments.
• Follows standard procedures on recurring assignments but may have technical direction given for unfamiliar assignments or more complex design problems, using fully applicable precedents.
• Follows specific layout and engineering diagrams to create and revise drawings; may troubleshoot and correct simple malfunctions on drawing designs.
• Extracts and complies a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, and reports; processes data following well-defined methods, identifying errors or inconsistencies; recommends and assists in design improvements, selects methods of data presentation.
• Assists in design modifications by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials which are pertinent to specific equipment or component parts. Uses judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seeks sources to clarify information; may travel to facility sites to perform field research, review, revise, and create drawings to reflect as-built or future conditions.
• Distributes final copy prints to several nearby locations.
• Other duties as assigned, not determined at time of hire.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATION
• Two (2) years of experience with basic functions of power distribution and protection equipment as found in electrical substations.
• Two (2) years of experience with electrical drawings and diagrams and the use of such drawings.
• Limited knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity, DC circuits, AC theory and power system equipment and its operation.
• Two (2) years of experience with drafting standards of the ANSI, Military Specifications or WAPA’s Standards.
• A two (2) year Associates or a Technical Degree is preferred.
• Must have a broad knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint and basic principles of database administration.
• Must be a U.S citizen.
• Must pass a Background Check and Pre-employment Drug Screening.
• Must have reliable transportation to/from the worksite.
• Must have ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
• Must have the ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and prioritize work.
• Must be able to follow through and monitor own work to ensure quality.
• Must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language to effectively carry out all contract requirements.
Physical Requirements:
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Work will require the regular utilization of hand and finger dexterity, as well as close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility to include but not limited to walking, standing, climbing, bending, reaching, turning, kneeling, crouching, or crawling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that, due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. Must be able to lift, move, and transport items frequently over 10 pounds, occasionally up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment:
Work is generally conducted in an inside environment, but may also involve some outside work, depending on the task. The inside environment may be in an office or cubicle with close quarters, with low to moderate noise, and bright or dim lighting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Outside work may include various environmental conditions including hot and cold climates. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
